STS138: Walking Bass Method, Part 8: Introducing Chromaticisms
Part 8 of the "Walking Bass Method" series. This lesson introduces and demonstrates the third tier of Adam's 3-tiered walking bass method, which covers the use of chromaticisms in walking bass lines. Chromaticisms are used extensively in traditional jazz walking bass lines, and create an element of"tension and release" in the lines' contour. Chromaticisms allow the player to tighten up the intervallic distances between notes and can convey a greater sense of smoothness and harmonic flow as the bassist moves from measure to measure. Recommended for intermediate to advanced level players interested in improving their walking bass line approaches.
